This hefty chopper was carefully hand forged from lively one solid piece of 5160 high carbon spring steel. The authentic "Brute de forge" surface texture gives this piece lots of unique character. After forging, the entire piece was normalized several times, Then the blade received a fiery edge quench, followed by triple temper cycles, producing a very tough and resilient cutting and chopping tool. The integral hilt is tightly wrapped with natural brown elk hyde, that feels very comfortable in the hand, and absorbs moisture while working.

This blade comes complete with a Hand stitched and dyed leather sheath.

This knife is high quality and looks fantastic. The finish is gorgeous and looks much better than the high mirror polish I see on many knives these days. However, I am disappointed with the sheath, although it is of high quality. When the knife is sheathed, the blade edge should face the stitching, where a welt should be stitched into the edge of the sheath so that the blade doesn’t cut through the leather when drawn out. The knife edge on this sheath faces the non-stitched side of the sheath where there is no welt to protect the sheath, over time the blade will slice through the leather. Despite this flaw with the sheath, I’m happy with my purchase and truly love this knife.
